Design and Specification Engineer – Electrical Products

Houston, Texas - USA

 

This position will report to the VP, General Manager of R. STAHL, Inc. and have the following primary responsibilities:

  • Work on a project from the initial brief, through the design and development stage of electrical control and power distribution products, to the testing of prototypes, right through to final manufacture and implementation.
  • Develop project specifications and design electrical products to North American (e.g. NEC, CEC) and International (e.g. ATEX, CENELEC, IEC) Standards.
  • Design and implement cost-effective product modifications to help improve safety, reliability and throughput.
  • Make sure that the product can be made again reliably and that it will perform consistently in specified operating environments.
  • Discuss and solve complex problems with manufacturing department, sub-contractors, suppliers and customers.
  • Use engineering principles to provide efficient solutions to the development and design of electrical products.
  • Manage projects using engineering principles and techniques.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Support Product Approval Department in approval process of electrical products to North American and International Standards designed by R. STAHL.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

 Qualifications for successful candidates will include:

  •  Legal Authorization to work in the US without sponsorship.
  • Knowledge of, and previous work experience using, engineering principles, development and design.
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficiency in MS Office to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g. AutoCAD, Solidworks).
  • Must be able to travel 10-25%
  • Must be able to work at our German Headquarters for a while.

 

Education and/or Experience:

  •  Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or closely related discipline.
  • Three plus years relevant experience in development, design and application of electrical products.
  • Experience and understanding of International Standards relevant for electrical products, preferable for hazardous locations
  • In-depth technical knowledge.
