Since the early 1950s, R. STAHL has served customers in the exploration, production, transportation, and refining sectors of the oil and gas industry.

Indeed, our relationship with the industry extends beyond our being a worldwide supplier of innovative automation & electrical solutions.

In 1995, R. STAHL partnered with oil and gas industry leaders and their counterparts in the process industries to advocate global harmonization of codes and standards to ensure safe operating conditions and advance the cause of worldwide facilities compatibility. As a result of our industry consortium, the U.S. National Electrical Code (NEC) was changed in 1996 to incorporate article 505 and the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) in 1998, a move that began the harmonization process of traditional North American standards of Classes & Divisions with IEC Zone concepts.

In 1998, R. STAHL was gratified to be chosen as a partner with ARCO in developing the first North American Class / Zone installation of hazardous-location electrical controls and lighting for the Alaskan Alpine project.  We were selected because of our global industry presence, our global third-party certifications, and the capabilities of our products and systems to operate in extreme temperatures (-50°C).
